Letter from our Board President

Dear Gann Community,

It is once again my privilege to serve as President of the Gann Academy Board of Trustees this year. We are happy to report we opened the 2011-2012 school year with our largest ever opening enrollment of 332 students, upgraded technology including new laptops for our teachers, and two new sports fields for our athletes. As a Gann parent, I continue to be inspired by our tremendous faculty, whose commitment to our students and to their own development is extraordinary. With new leadership, the return of so many veteran teachers, and a strong cohort of new teachers, our faculty continues to grow stronger each year.

Thanks to your generous financial support last year, we increased our number of donors by almost 25% and exceeded our annual fundraising goal by over 15%. Your donations this year are critical; they enable us to effectively meet our ambitious 2011-2012 Strategic Priorities and to ensure that every qualified student wishing to attend Gann Academy may do so. This year, our Institutional Advancement Department has set its Annual Fund goal at 100% participation from our Parent Community.

We are honored to welcome three wonderful new members to our Board of Trustees: Jane Taubenfeld Cohen, Liz Cooper and Ben Segal. Each of these individuals offers a demonstrated commitment to Gann and the community, as well as their respective expertise in education and law. We are also grateful to two trustees who retired from the Board at the end of last year: Toby Sloane and Josh Werner, both of whom were instrumental in so many successes achieved during their tenure on the Board.

Thank you again for your support and best wishes for a happy and healthy 2012!

B’Shalom,
Elizabeth Jick
