Athletics is an integral part of the educational program at Gann Academy. It affords young people innumerable opportunities for personal growth and development.

Gann athletic facilities include basketball and volleyball courts, dance and fitness rooms, baseball and soccer fields, and four beautiful tennis courts. The SAC or Student Activity Center hosts the indoor athletic spaces, offices, the athletic trainer's room, locker rooms for teams and faculty, and the performing arts facilities including the school's black-box theater.

As an educational process, athletics teach students rules, fundamentals, and skills of various individual and team sports. Gann's program serves to develop within its student's qualities of "team": cooperative work and play, sacrifice, sharing, leadership, and growth through failure and success. The lessons learned from athletic competition, whether interscholastic or intramural, and including games and practices, are of benefit to both our students and to our school.

Gann athletics provide healthy competition and cooperation within and between schools, thus reinforcing in each student the best principles of good sportsmanship. Student athletes are encouraged to conduct the affairs of games, leagues, and tournaments according to high standards of sportsmanship and cooperative good will. Gann Academy's interscholastic teams compete in leagues affiliated with the New England Preparatory School Athletic Conference.

The athletics program includes non-competitive and competitive options at both varsity and non-varsity levels. Students are required to take two trimesters of an athletic activity or sport each year.
