Students are not required to have their own laptop; however they are permitted to bring a laptop and use it on the school network as long as it meets the requirements outlined below.

Student Network Connection

Students who wish to be fully connected to the school’s network will be charged a $200.00 fee to be joined to the Gann Domain in which they will have full access to school resources as well as technical support.

The laptop system fully supported for this service is Windows XP Professional. Vista has not been tested on our sysetm and therefore we cannot promise compatiablity at this time.

The following software will be provided and licensed, applicable for educational use. These remain exclusively the property of Gann Academy. Allowed use of each to commence and terminate with  students tenure at Gann Academy.

Appointments for Configurstions

Please make an appointment with Paul at helpdesk@gannacademy.org to have your laptop configured. It will take 24 to 48 hours to complete the configuration. All configurations will be done on a first-come/first-serve basis.
If you have any secure logon passwords to your PC, they must either be removed, or provided. Any Antivirus software must also be removed (we will install Symantec Coroprate Edition.)

Wireless Access Only Connection

Those who do not plan to connect to the school’s domain or who cannot for compatiablity reasons may be able to connect wirelessly for Interent only without a fee and with the following understandings:

-user authentician is required
-devices must meet and maintain Gann Academy’s device health standards which include:
            1. a current and patched Operating System
            2. antivirus with undated definitions and with realtime protect enabled    
            3. no critical vulerabilties
-devices and user will be subject to Gann AUP (acceptable use policies) and the school’s filtering applications
-no other school resources will be accessable
-no technical support should be expected.
