Technology at Gann Academy is not merely about infrastructure,
connections, and machines. Although sound infrastructure, reliable network
services, appropriate applications, and good support are essential to
meet the high demands of a school preparing students for the 21st century,
technology should ultimately be judged by its ability to support and
enhance the educational process.
At Gann our technology mission is to use our robust resources to enhance
teaching and learning throughout the school community. The state-of-the-art
resources available to students and teachers are impressive. Developing
the educational use of these is an important mandate. Here are a few
of the educational resources to note:
- a high-speed Internet connection
- wireless connectivity for laptop users
- a schoolwide email system for classroom collaboration
- interactive whiteboards with digital projectors in 28 classrooms
- a DishNet TV service that streams Israeli, Spanish, French, and domestic
networks to classrooms and other areas of the campus
- a media server that streams DVD and video to all classrooms
- laptop carts for classrooms on each academic floor of the school
- a faculty laptop and development program
- video conferencing facilities
