• Q: How does my family apply for financial aid?

  Gann Academy partners with School and Student Services (SSS) by the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) for financial aid applications. Families that are currently receiving financial aid from Gann Academy will receive financial aid application instructions via email in December. The application, which includes a Parent Financial Statement (PFS), must be completed and submitted to SSS by the February 15th deadline.

• Q: Will my financial documents be secure with SSS?

  SSS data security processes are SAS70 certified to ensure safety. SSS uses the most up-to-date intrusion detection, firewalls, encryption levels and security patches. For more information, please visit the parent FAQ section on the Solutions By SSS Website.

• Q: For traditional financial aid, will it be taken into account if I have other children applying to or attending tuition-charging institutions?

  Yes. The school considers tuition commitments with other institutions through the undergraduate level. In addition, the school expects that a family applying for aid from Gann Academy will also apply for financial aid from all other tuition-charging schools.

• Q: Before completing the financial aid application, can you tell me how much aid I will receive?

  No. We are unable to determine eligibility without completed financial aid and admissions applications. However, families that qualify for financial assistance can expect to receive a minimum award of $5,000.

• Q: Must both parents be employed to qualify for financial aid?

  In general, yes. However, we realize that specific cases may make it difficult for both parents to work outside the home. Explaining such circumstances on your application is important.

• Q: Should I complete multiple applications if I have more than one child applying for financial aid?

  Using the PFS online, you can enter application information for all of your children who are applying for financial aid using a single application. You do not need to complete a separate PFS online for each child.

• Q: Do I need to submit IRS Form 4506-T even though I sent my tax returns to SSS?

  Gann Academy reserves the right to request IRS Form 4506-T at any point during the financial aid application process. This form is used in some circumstances when the Financial Aid Committee deems it necessary to obtain a copy of your Federal tax transcript directly from the IRS.

• Q: What if I am self-employed or have income from other sources?

  If you have income from a business, rental property, s-corporation, partnership, or estate/trust, you must submit complete copies of all tax schedules along with your individual income tax returns including the following:

  
  Business: Schedule C or C-EZ (Form 1040)
  Farm: Schedule F (Form 1040) and Form 4562 Depreciation and Amortization
  Rental Property: Schedule E (Form 1040)
  S-Corporation: Schedule E (Form 1040), Form 1120S, Schedule K-1 and Form 8825
  Partnership: Schedule E (Form 1040), Form 1065, Schedule K-1 and Form 8825
  Estates and Trusts: Schedule E (Form 1040), Form 1041, Schedule K-1 and Form 8825
