Gann Topples Covenant Christian
For the 2nd in as many nights, Gann took to the road and notched their 2nd victory of the season topping CCA, 71-56.
Gann made the trip to Danvers (or Peabody, depending on which side of the stands you sat in) to take on league rival CCA in its first league contest of the season. From the opening tip, Gann controlled the contest led by the on court leadership of Senior Izy Altman-Sagan. "For the second night in a row, Izy had complete control of the floor on both ends of the court." said Coach Nole. "With Eli (Gross) sidelined for the 2nd consecutive night due to injury--Izy had to again handle the bulk of the minutes at PG the entire game." Offensively, Sagan handled the full court pressure with ease and recorded multiple assists. Defensively he created havoc for CCA all night long recording multiple steals including a sneaky inbounds pass 'pick and put back' bucket late in the game. With balanced scoring and strong defense Gann was able to take a double digit lead into the half--and pushed the lead to as much as 25 with only 8 minutes to go in the contest. Overall, Gann once again showed scoring depth with Matt Gluck 18, Yahm Rones 17, Eli Cole 15, and Sagan chipping in with 11. Jacob Starr made his season debut putting together strong minutes in the 2nd half and recording 6 points. "In both games we were able to push to comfortable leads late into the games--only to see those leads dwindle down just a bit to much to my liking. We've got some work to do on learning how to play with those kind of leads but we'll figure that out together" said Nole.
