Gann Notches Important MBIL Victory over BTA
Gann put together 32 minutes of torrid shooting on its way to a 90-74 victory of MBIL rival Boston Trinity.
Coming off an emotional win late Saturday evening followed by two full days off, Gann's return to action Tuesday had all the makings of a 'let down' game against an athletic Boston Trinity squad. Entering the game, both Gann and BTA were undefeated within the MBIL conference with the winner taking sole possession of first place. With a workmanlike effort, Gann took the court and jumped out to a slim early lead behind 3 three pointers by Senior Dan Metser in the opening four minutes. That hot shooting continued across the board for Gann during the first half with Gann draining 7 three pointers in the first 16 minutes of action. Not to be denied, the potent BTA offense kept the game close and trailed by only 8 at intermission. Once again, the Gann offense was clicking on all cylinders in the 2nd half draining yet another 7 three pointers with Eli Cole highlighting the effort with 3 of his own triples in the opening 5 minutes of 2nd half action. With the hot shooting and clockwork type offensive movement, Gann quickly pushed the lead to 25 with 8 minutes to go and never looked back. "In our pregame locker room meeting tonight I could sense we had some mentally tired guys," said Coach Nole. "We talked about it-- and made it a focus to just go out there tonight and be as efficient as possible and let the rhythm of the game find us." Gann was led by Matt Gluck with 22, Yahm Rones with 21, Dan Metser with 19, and Eli Cole with 17. The win moves Gann to 10-3 overall and 5-0 in MBIL league play.
