Gann Remains Unbeaten in MBIL
Gann wrapped up its season series vs. league rival Chapel Hill with a 70-48 victory to move to 7-0 in MBIL action and 11-3 overall.
Playing its 8th game since returning to action on January 3, the majority of which have been hotly contested contests, fighting off a let down game has been a focus entering this weeks action. With an important league win last night vs. BTA, Gann had to once again take the court tonight and find a way to refocus and take care of business against Chapel Hill, a team they had defeated by 30 earlier this season. A much improved Chapel Hill kept the game close throughout the first half this evening, actually taking a 2 point lead with 6 minutes to go in the first stanza. With Gann able to again pick up the pace thanks to strong defense, Gann was able to take a 6 point lead into the intermission. Gann continued pressing the gas pedal in the 2nd half, slowly pushing the lead to +10 and eventually +20 with under two minutes to go. "We are definitely in the dog days of the season right now," said Coach Nole, "These high stress games have taken a bit of a toll on us both mentally and physically. We have to continue to find ways to show up with the high energy and focus that has given us our success so far. Most importantly, we need to continue to stay together as a team--as without that complete team unity success is going to find a way to elude us." Gann was led by Matt Gluck with 20 and Dan Metser with 16. Noah Lion again provided defensive spark off the bench and also chipped in with 6 of his own. Dan Galper and Ilan Barr both hit key 3's and provided additional defensive energy during Gann's first half comeback run.
