Gann Wraps Up MBIL Regular Season Undefeated
Gann wrapped up its MBIL regular season with a season sweep over last years league champion Boston Trinity, downing the returning champions 56-53.
In their first meeting with BTA two weeks ago, Gann lit up the nets for 90 points while BTA pumped in 76 in a high flying offensive affair. The rematch tonight was the exact opposite, a low scoring, grind it out defensive battle that saw neither team able to take more than an 8 point lead. In a back and forth first half, Gann had to battle for points on every possession, as did BTA, with Gann taking a narrow 5 point lead into halftime. The 2nd half continued with much of the same back and forth, with Gann clinging to to one or two possession leads throughout. With Gann clinging to a 3 point lead thanks to the clutch free throw shooting of Dan Metser who canned 4 straight charity tosses in the final 45 seconds, a BTA three point attempt with just seconds to go narrowly missed the mark giving Gann its 8th MBIL victory against 0 losses. "Were piling up a list of guys on the DL right now (Altman-Sagan, Starr, Sinclair, Levisohn, Goldstein) and with B2B2B games again this week our bench has given us extremely valuable minutes this week," said Coach Nole. "I think with all of the different combinations and rotation changes this week its been hard to get into an offense rhythm--which I think is simply a sign of guys on the court getting used to one another. Defensively, we've actually stepped it up a notch--which gave us the two wins this week." Gann was led tonight with Matt Gluck 20, and Dan Metser and Yahm Rones both with 16. With the win Gann pushes to 13-4 overall and finishes 8-0 within MBIL league play.
