This Week at Gann
This has been an exciting and very busy week at Gann Academy! Our students have been hard at work, showing off all of their many talents.
On Wednesday, March 1, Mock Trial competed against Newton North in the “Sweet 16” tournament. They were excited going in as Newton North was ranked #1 in the league. After a neck and neck trial, Gann pulled away victorious! They finished with a score of 97, gaining three points over their opponent's score. On Wednesday, March 8, Gann will compete in the “Elite Eight” tournament. Good luck to the team!
Our Varsity Boys Basketball Team became back-to-back league champions! This is their third win in just four seasons. After winning the MBIL championship game, the boys received a NEPSAC bid! They were selected as the #5 team, a step up from last year when they were selected as #8. The team traveled to New York to play Harvey High School, but unfortunately lost the game. Still, this was an incredible season, and they have so much to be proud of!
The opening night of the spring musical is tonight, Thursday, March 2! This semester, the Red Curtain Drama Club (RCDC) is proud to present “9 to 5.” With songs written by Dolly Parton, this is a hilarious show about three girls who seek revenge on their horrible boss. The students have been working hard all week in rehearsals and are excited to perform three shows this week!
For the first time in over five years, Gann Robotics is going to a state level competition, the Massachusetts FTC Championship! After placing first with a PERFECT score in the qualifying competition, they are gearing up to compete this weekend. This presents an extra challenge, as the competition is on Saturday afternoon, during Shabbat. Our Jewish Life team worked hard to create accommodations. The team will be observing Shabbat, even staying overnight in a nearby hotel so they are able to walk to the competition site. This is what it looks like for our community to come together and support each other!
