Get Ready For Purim!

Purim is right around the corner, and we are so excited!

Festivities started this week during Z’man Kodesh, when students prepared mishloach manot, or gifts to friends. Each Z’man Kodesh group will give the treats to another group, creating connection among the vast array of different religious practices Gann celebrates.

The Gann community is also working hard on matanot l’evyonim, or gifts for those in need. Our student-led club Gann Gives and the Jewish Life Office are partnering to raise $1800 that will be split between Yad Chessed, The Greater Boston Food Bank, and JDC’s Ukraine relief efforts.

This is all a prelude to the huge day of celebration on Tuesday, March 7! Get ready for an epic day!

After starting the day with Z’man Kodesh, our school will enjoy hamantaschen made by Gann students! Under the guidance of Farmer Noah Weinberg and Jewish Studies Teacher Eli Whitkin, the students are making 400 hamantaschen to give to the Gann community. The bakers have been hard at work adding different fillings to the cookies.

The fun continues with a school-wide carnival hosted by the 9th grade class and the 12th grade Ozos. Get ready for a ton of yummy food and classic games: corn hole, can jam, pin the tail on the heifer, “Just Dance,” and more! Also available will be awesome prizes that students can take home. Faculty and staff have been giving out tickets to students which can be turned in to “purchase” the great lineup of prizes!

The day will end with everyone’s favorite part: the spiel put on by the 11th grade. This will surely be a silly, funny, and an all-around good time.

We can’t wait to celebrate Purim and the joyous Judaism we have at Gann.
