At Gann we believe that the arts are an essential component of a well-rounded education. Music, theater, and the visual arts play a critical role in stimulating creativity and fostering a greater sense of community — helping students deepen their self-expression and become more open and mindful to others.
The Gann Arts Department introduces students to the works of historical and contemporary artists in the classroom, on the stage, in the gallery, and in the community. In both curricular and co-curricular offerings, teachers aim to show students how the arts influence all aspects of their lives and intersect with many other areas of study. Students are encouraged to find their own creative voices, and a rigorous curriculum challenges them and holds them accountable by encouraging their participation in public exhibitions and performances.
At Gann, promising young artists learn to take creative risks, to problem-solve, and to communicate in new ways. To nurture this growth, Gann offers a broad range of courses for students of all abilities and backgrounds. Those who develop a passion for the arts have the chance to take advanced coursework. While not every student will choose to pursue an artistic path in the future, at Gann they will be exposed to the creative process and acquire essential skills and vocabulary that will help them mature into more appreciative and informed citizens.
