  • A proud loss at NEPSAC semifinals

Gann loss to Hoosac, the No 1 seeded team at NEPSAC, showed Gann’s values at its best. Gann never gave up, fought to the end against much bigger and physically stronger players and took pride knowing Gann did their best. It was Elijah’s day of glory. He allowed three goals, but saved at least ten clear Hoosac’s opportunities to goal, including a spectacular save of a PK. Gann was not lacking of goal opportunities either. We counted eight clear chances stopped by their goalkeeper, some from a one on one situation against our strikers. Gann showed many good combinations after Hoosac lost a player to a red card. Hoosac’s physical game ended with a PK in our favor, which Josh finished beautifully for a 1-3 final score. Good work Gann!

  • Gann soccer win NEPSAC quarterfinals for the first time

After two consecutive MBIL soccer seasons undefeated, Gann went to the NEPSAC tournament to win the quarterfinals this year. A first time in Gann soccer history!  We happily accomplished the objective we set up for this year (we lost the NEPSAC quarterfinals on a free kick last year). It was not easy. It was not looking good this time. Gann was disorganized and dominated by Rocky Hill for at least the first 30 minutes  of the game; and then, when Gann started to play its beautiful possession game, Rocky Hill scored! We lost the first half 0-1. But champions never give up. We tied the game in the first 30 seconds of the second half. It was a fast combination of four consecutive passes and a goal by Alex. We had many opportunities in the second half but could not finish. Finally, with less than a minute to the end of regulation time, a free kick in our favor ended in a very confusing situation that allowed Evan to finally give us the long desired victory. What a game!!!  GO GANN!!!

  • A 3-0 victory against our traditional rival Maimonides

The boys varsity team continues to be undefeated this season. A 3-0 victory over our traditional rival Maimonides was a very helpful preparation for the games we expect to play at the NEPSAC tournament next week. Alex, Ithai and Noah Lion were the scorers today.

  • Boys varsity soccer MBIL champions again!

What a game against a great rival! Gann had a 2-0 lead in the first 7 minutes of the game thanks to a nice assist from Alex to Josh and then an excellent "turn and shoot" by Alex. BM did not give up and kept fighting until they tied the game on us. We had to go all the way to PKs. We all knew that Elijah could do it and he did it! BM missed one PK on the post and Elijah spectacularly saved another one. Josh, Noah Lion, Alex and Ari W. did not miss. They were ready for it! Ben A. was also ready to score the next one, but he did not have to since we had already won. Let us be ready for NEPSAC now. Go Gann!

  • Boys varsity soccer won the MBIL semi-finals

The boys varsity soccer team will arrive to the MBIL finals (to be played on Monday, November 5) with a record 12-0-2 standings after defeating CSW 2-0 on the semifinals. Excellent combinations between Josh, Alex and Ithai, gave us the two winnings goals (finished by Ithai and Alex), but the main work was done by the midfielders who took control of almost all balls arriving to the area and the defenders who did not allow many shots to give serious work to Elijah.

  • Boys Varsity Soccer Undefeated

The Boys Varsity soccer team ended yesterday the regular soccer season undefeated with a 11-0-2 record. The 4-2 win against Waring was a hard won victory as we missed two of our normally starting players. Alex scored the first goal early, 2 minutes after starting, giving us confidence for the rest of the game. An assistance pass from Josh to Alex and another one from Alex to Josh gave us two more goals. Noah Lion got the final one. Waring fought hard and showed very good attacks as they scored one goal in the first half and another one 9 minutes in the second half. They kept us nervous until the end of the game, but Elijah saved us more than once.

  • MBIL first place for Varsity soccer

Boys varsity soccer has ensured a first place in the MBIL league this season by winning 4-1 against CSW today. It was an even game in the first half, except for Jared who opened the score in the first 10 minutes of the game. Gann completely dominated in the second half. Two more goals by Josh. The best plays: A shot by Alex, impossible to stop, which went to the end of the net after hitting the post  and an excellent combination by Ithai to Alex, who crossed the ball for Josh to finish it. Just beautiful soccer! Go Gann!

  • A well played first half led to a win against CHCH

An excellent set up by Ithai gave us an early lead and Noah scored twice to celebrate his birthday. Josh, as usual, stole a ball and scored; and Asaf knew how to be in the right place at the right time to give us a 4-0 lead in the first half of the game. Gann lost 0-2 in the second half.

  • Mission accomplished today!

Gann needed to tie this game to remain in first place. We did it! Although both teams had good opportunities to score, a few more for Gann (10) than BM (7), neither one could finish the good work done to set them up. Good defensive play by both teams.

  • Good defensive work gave Gann a victory

Outstanding work by Elijah gave strength and confidence to the team by stopping many difficult shots made by Newman. A corner kick put Gann behind in the first 3 minutes of the game, but Noah L. tied for us 5 minutes later. Josh got a gift from Newman' substitute GK and scored without hesitation. A well played free kick by Alex bounced from the GK and Noah scored again by very smartly getting the rebound. Ithai scored the last one for a final 4-1 win. The defenders did the rest by keeping the score unchanged.

  • Good team work for a 5-0 victory

Good team work took Gann to a clear win. Asaf and Josh were the scorers, but the outstanding plays came from a strict application of our most important principle: “Make your teammate look good, not you”. Ithai, Alex and Jared were the stars as they made their teammates look good by unselfishly giving excellent assistance passes. The last one, for a 5-0 victory, a perfect set up from Jared to Josh, was superb soccer and just beautiful.

  • A game well played by both teams

Both teams played very good quality soccer. It was a pleasure to watch. BTA took the lead in the first three minutes of the game with a good dribbling maneuver that surprised our defenders. Gann quickly responded with several well-coordinated offensive attacks that culminated on an excellent assistance pass by Alex to Josh to tie the game ten minutes later. Both teams had good combinations and opportunities to score later on, but could not succeed. Gann continued attacking in the second half until Josh and Noah L. gave us a 3-1 advantage. The MVP, however, was Elijah who stopped many good BTA shots, including an outstanding performance as he stopped a doubtful PK given in favor of BTA.

  • Great effort and a win

A very tired varsity team fought its way up after losing 0-1 in the first half. After creating six clear opportunities to goal that were stopped by the goalkeeper or by the posts, Asaf was finally able to tie the game early in the first 9 minutes of the second half; and Josh put us in advantage two minutes later.  From then on, it was a big fight to defend Gann's advantage. A couple of additional good Gann attacks ended up out or in the hands of the CCA's goalkeeper.

  • Good varsity soccer today

Elijah did not have much work at the goal today and he almost scored twice as he played a few minutes as a striker. Good defensive play by Ari W.. and Jesse. Good building up by the midfielders. The rest was done by the scorers: Noah (1), Jared (2), Josh (2), Ilan (1) and Sam K. (1). The best, however, was an excellent assistance pass by Alex to Josh for him to score and another excellent set up from Jared to Josh for him to have an easy finishing.

  • A difficult win against a good team

Gann kept control of the game most of the time, but could not score, partly because of an excellent CSW's goalkeeper. It was only in minutes 25 and 35 of the second half that Josh and Ithai managed to do it. Jesse, David K., Sam L., Ari W., Jared and Evan did a great job defending. Consequently, CSW had very few chances to get close to our area and Elijah, as always, was totally in charge at the goal when they did. Congratulations.

  • A good Boys Varsity soccer victory

Congratulations to Gann defenders who did not allow Newman players to penetrate to our goal area. Newman was forced to send long distance shots that were easily controlled by Elijah. The twins were great today: Ithai opened the score board with excellent composure as he received a pass inside the goal area; and Asaf made a high class intelligent assistance pass for Josh to finish it. Two more goals by Josh finished the game 4-0.

  • Boys varsity soccer: a good fight against a strong team

The boys varsity soccer team fought hard up to the last minute to achieve a 2-2 tie against Brimmer, one of the strongest teams in the league this year. A long shot from distance put the score 0-1 in the first half. Gann attacked continuosly and with intensity, creating at least seven clear opportunities to score with good combinations and fast counter-attacks. Josh managed to move in a very close area near the goal and tied the game in the second half. Brimmer scored again creating a 1-2 situation for the rest of the game, but Gann never gave up. Asaf was fouled inside the box after a strong attack, giving us a PK just two minutes before the end of the game. Josh scored again for a 2-2 final. Good intensity fight and great spirits. Go Gann!
