    Gann Boys Tennis beats Brimmer 4-1 for the MBIL Championship
     
    Everything was on the line for the MBIL Championship at Mt. Ida/ UMass-Amherst campus with a big crowd on hand.
     
    At 1 singles was Senior Captain Eric Kruglak who played against a good hard hitting player.   Eric got off to a good start and his opponent was playing extremely well with Eric up 3-2. Eric’s opponent though played better to win 8-4. Nice playing Eric!
    At 2 singles was Senior Captain Jared Lipsey who was playing very well with serves, net play and consistency going ahead 6-3. Jared pulled through some tough points to win 8-4 in a close match. Great playing Jared!!
    At this point 1 doubles finished up with Senior Captain Eli Goldstein and junior Noah Lion. Noah played well at the net and serving and Eli was great at the net and serving too to win 8-0. Great playing Noah and Eli! Gann was up 2-1 with 2 matches to go
     
    At 3 singles was junior Leor Handelsman against a good and consistent opponent. This was the match of the day with 1-1, 3-3, 5-5 scores. Leor down 5-6 played his heart out with great serving, strategy and consistency.   Leor won the next 2 games to go up 7-6 and had 3 match points but his opponent came back. At this point 2 doubles won their match and the championship (see below)!   Everyone was ready to celebrate but was waiting for Leor to finish. Leor came to the net and hit a tremendous overhead for the win. Great playing Leor!!! Everyone rushed the court, jumped on Leor and cheered.   Investigation is still underway on who poured the water jug on the coach during celebration. LOL
     
    At 2 doubles was juniors Ezra Goff and Jacob Finkielsztein. Ezra had his net and baseline game going well and Jacob had his serves and consistency to win 8-0 for the 4-1 team win. Great playing Ezra and Jacob!
     
    It was a great season. As I tell the team we win and lose as a team. Well we won!

    Gann Boys Tennis beats CSW School 5-0 It was Senior Day yesterday and the seniors played some great tennis with a big crowd of teachers, parents, siblings and Alumni cheering them on. At 1 singles was Senior Captain Eric Kruglak who played against a good hard hitting freshman of CSW’s. Eric got off to a slow start and his opponent was playing extremely well with Eric up 3-2. Eric settled down played a great match with great shots, serves and strategy. Eric was more consistent than his opponent and went on to win 8-2. Nice win Eric!! At 2 singles was Senior Captain Jared Lipsey who was on fire with serves, net play and consistency winning 8-2. Great playing Jared!! At 3 singles was Senior Captain Eli Goldstein against a good and consistent opponent. Eli outlasted his opponent’s consistency with great serving and a strong net game. Great playing Eli! At 1 doubles was juniors Noah Lion and Leor Handelsman. It was a great match with great points for Noah and Leor. Noah played well at the net and serving and Leor was great at the net and serving too. That combo got them the lead at 5-0 and they never looked back winning 8-0. Great playing Noah and Leor! At 2 doubles was juniors Josiah Riskin and Jacob Finkielsztein. Josiah had his net and baseline game going well and Jacob had his serves and consistency to win 8-0 for the 5-0 team win. Great playing Josiah and Jacob! Freshman Eli Bennett and Ari Lerner got a friendly match to finish the day going ahead 7-0.

    Gann Boys Tennis beats Newman School 5-0
     
    Playing at Gann on a cloudy, windy and rainy day we were lucky to get the match finished. Our luck came from having 2 former Gann graduates on hand Jacob Davoudgoleh and Oshri Olsberg to cheer the team on.
     
    At 1 singles was Senior Captain Eric Kruglak played a very efficient game with good serves, baseline play and net play to win quickly at 8-1. Great playing Eric!
    At 2 singles was Senior Captain Jared Lipsey who got off to a slow start playing a good player from Newman up 3-2.   Jared then got on fire with his serves and net game winning point after point to win 8-2.   Great playing Jared!
    At 3 singles was junior Noah Lion playing his first singles league match and the Match of the day. Noah played the most consistent player on the team in a back and forth affair going 3-3, 5-5 to 7-7 and a tiebreaker. Noah pulled away to win the tiebreaker 7-1 with great serves, net play and athleticism. Great playing Noah!!
    At 1 doubles were Senior Captain Eli Goldstein and Freshman Lev Menzin. It was a great match with great points. Eli was great at the net and serving and Lev was good at the baseline and serving. That combo got them the lead at 4-0 and 8-0 for quick win. Great playing guys!!
    At 2 doubles were Freshmen Lev Olsberg and Noah Gornstein. Lev had his net and baseline going well and Noah had his net game and consistency to win 8-0 for the 5-0 team win. Great playing Lev and Noah!
     
    Freshman Eli Bennett got a friendly match to finish the day.

    Gann Boys Tennis beats Maimo 4-1 Yesterday we played a very good Maimo team and won. Gann Boys Tennis was up to the challenge. At 1 singles was Senior Captain Eric Kruglak who played against a good hitting player. Eric played a great match with great shots and serves. Eric started off slowly going up 3-2 but dominated after that point with Eric winning 8-2. Nice win Eric! At 2 singles was Senior Captain Jared Lipsey who played the match of the day. Jared worked hard for this win as he probably played the best 2 singles opponent of the year. In a back and forth match going 2-2, 4-4, 6-6, and 8-8. Jared’s serving and net play got him to a tiebreaker. Jared took the lead in the tiebreaker winning 7-1 and won 9-8 in games. Great playing Jared!!! At 3 singles was junior Leor Handelsman who has played great all year. Leor played extremely well at first going up 5-2. His opponent changed tactics and played better but Leor adjusted too winning 8-4. Great playing Leor! At 1 doubles were Senior Captain Eli Goldstein and junior Noah Lion. This was the Comeback match of the year! Noah and Eli down 0-4 and things were looking bleak. However they changed their strategy and played better. Noah and Eli’s net game was immense with some great serving to win 8-5. Great play Noah and Eli!! At 2 doubles was junior Josiah Riskin and sophomore Micah Margolis playing. Josiah had great serving and baseline play and Micah had great net play. Maimo was very good winning some close games as Josiah and Micah lost 1-8. Eli Bennett and Lev Olsberg played a friendly losing 3-8 and Freshmen Noah Gornstein and Ari Lerner got a friendly match to finish the day winning 7-6.

    Gann Boys Tennis loses 3-2 over BUA Boys Tennis lost yesterday 3-2 in a hard fought loss with 2 of the 3 losses going into a tiebreaker. At 1 singles was Senior Captain Eric Kruglak playing one of the top 3 players in the league. Eric was down 1-3 but came back tie it at 5-5 and 7-7 with great consistency, serving and strategy. The tiebreaker was close too with great points by both players and Eric losing 7-5. At 2 singles was Senior Captain Jared Lipsey against a hard hitter. Jared’s consistency, serving and net play got him off to a 4-1 lead and 8-2 win. Great playing Jared!! At 3 singles was junior Leor Handelsman. Leor played very well with great serving, net play and aggressive play to win 8-1. At 1 doubles was junior Noah Lion and freshman Lev Menzin. This was an incredible match from beginning to end. The match went back and forth at 2-2, 5-5 and 7-7. The tiebreaker was equally as close going 2-2, 4-4, 6-6, 8-8 and Gann losing 10-8. Great playing Noah and Lev. At 2 doubles with junior Ezra Goff and freshman Eli Bennett playing a very good doubles pairing. Good net play by Eli and baseline play by Ezra but BUA pulled ahead for an 8-3 win for BUA. Noah Gornstein and Ari Lerner got some friendly action in and played to 3-3.

    Gann Boys Tennis beats Brimmer 3-2
     
    The biggest game of the year with Brimmer right behind us for the league championship and the team played great.
     
    At 1 singles was Senior Captain Eric Kruglak who played against a very good hard hitting Player.   Eric played a great match with great shots and serves. Eric’s opponent was a little more consistent but there were great points all around with Eric losing 2-8.
     
    At 2 singles was Senior Captain Jared Lipsey who was on fire again with serves, net play and consistency winning 8-4.   Jared worked hard for this win as he probably played the best 2 singles opponent of the year. Great playing Jared!!!
     
    At 3 singles was junior Leor Handelsman who has played great all year. Leor played extremely well at first going up 5-2. His opponent changed tactics and played better going up 6-7 over Leor. Not to be out done Leor came back with a huge game for a 7-7 tiebreaker. The tiebreaker was very exciting with both players having match points but the Brimmer player prevailing 6-8 for a 7-8 win. Leor played great and found out his opponent has not lost a game all year until he met Leor. Great playing Leor!
     
    At 1 doubles was juniors Noah Lion and Jacob Finkielsztein . It was a great match with great points. Noah played well at the net and serving and Jacob was great at the baseline and serving too. That combo got them the win at 8-0. Great playing Noah and Jacob!!
     
    At 2 doubles was juniors Ezra Goff and Josiah Riskin playing for the Match! Josiah had great serving and net play and Ezra had great baseline play and lobbing to go up 5-2. They won 8-3 for the 3-2 team win. Great playing Ezra and Josiah!
     
    Freshmen Noah Gornstein and Ari Lerner got a friendly match to finish the day winning 8-1.

    Gann Boys Tennis beats CSW School 4-1 After not playing for 10 days due to break everyone was a little rusty. That being said they pulled through and got a nice 4-1 win.
    At 1 singles was Senior Captain Eric Kruglak who played against a good hard hitting freshman of CSW’s. Eric played a great match with great shots and serves. Eric was more consistent than his opponent and went on to win 8-5. Nice win Eric!
    At 2 singles was Senior Captain Jared Lipsey who was on fire with serves, net play and consistency winning 8-0. Great playing Jared!
    At 3 singles was junior Ezra Goff who filled in at the last minute for Leor who hurt himself. Ezra got off to a slow start winning 2-1 and 3-2 but pulled away. Ezra’s consistency and strategy got him an 8-3 win. Great playing Ezra!
    At 1 doubles was junior Noah Lion and in his first career match at Gann Freshman Lev Olsberg. It was a great match with great points. Noah played well at the net and serving and Lev was good at the net and serving too. That combo got them the lead at 5-4. However CSW played very well to win 8-6. Great playing guys.
    At 2 doubles was sophomore Tomy Allerhand and freshman Ari Lerner. Tomy had his net and baseline game going well and Ari had his serves and consistency to win 8-4 for the 4-1 team win. Great playing Ari and Tomy!
    Sophomore Micah Margolis and Freshman Noah Gornstein got a friendly match to finish the day going ahead 4-2.

    Gann Boys Tennis wins 3-2 over BUA
     
    BUA might be one of the best teams in the league this year but Gann Tennis was up for the challenge as we head into Passover break.
     
    At 1 singles was junior Leor Handelsman playing one of the top 3 players in the entire league. Leor was down 0-3 but came back at 2-3 with great consistency, serving and net play. Leor played very well with lots of deuce games but ended up losing 3-8.
     
    At 2 singles was Senior Captain Jared Lipsey against a hard hitter. Jared’s consistency, serving and net play got him off to a 4-1 lead and 8-1 win. Great playing Jared!!
     
    At 3 singles was junior Ezra Goff playing the most consistent player of BUA. This was a back and forth affair that went almost 2 hours. In fact all the other matches were finished when Ezra’s match finished.   At 5-5 Ezra went down 5-7 and made a great comeback to 7-7.   It was a close tiebreak with the BUA squeaking out a win at 7-8.
     
    At 1 doubles was Senior Captain Eli Goldstein and sophomore Ben Wilder.   Ben’s excellent serving and baseline play and Eli’s incredible net play and serving got them an 8-1 win against a good doubles pair. Great playing Eli and Ben!!!
    The match came down to 2 doubles with juniors Noah Lion and Jacob Finkielsztein playing.   Noah was immense at the net and Jacob had his serve and baseline playing going very well.   Going up 4-1 they ended up cruising to an 8-2 win against a good doubles pair for the team win. Great playing Noah and Jacob!!
     
    Noah Gornstein, Eli Bennett and Ari Lerner got some friendly action in and did very well.

    After talking to the Captains I changed up the lineups. Thank you to the Captains!
     
    At 1 singles was junior Leor Handelsman. Leor played a very smart and consistent game to win 8-1. Great playing Leor!!
    At 2 singles was Senior Captain Eli Goldstein playing against a player who was an athlete. Eli played great at the net, overheads and serving to win 8-1. Great playing Eli!
    At 3 singles was Ezra Goff. Ezra was off to a 6-1 start but then his opponent adjusted and came to 6-3. Ezra with smart tennis and super consistency won 8-4. Great playing Ezra!
    At 1 doubles was sophomore Simon Sherbet and freshman Eli Bennett playing in his first career Gann match. It was a close affair at 3-3 and 4-4 but Simon and Eli adjusted and played great at the net and baseline to win 8-5. Great playing Simon and Eli!!
    At 2 doubles was sophomore Tomy Allerhand and Freshman Ari Lerner playing in his first career Gann match. Great serving and baseline play got them a 8-2 win. Congrats Tomy and Ari!!

    Playing indoors at Winchester the team pulled out a good 4-1 win.
     
    At 1 singles was Senior Captain Eric Kruglak who played against one of the top tennis players in New England.   Eric played a great match with great shots. At one junction Eric hit 4 shots that are winners 99.9% of the time but his opponent got them all back. That is how good the Newman player was yesterday with Eric losing 1-8.
    At 2 singles was Senior Captain Jared Lipsey who was on fire with serves, net play and consistency winning 8-0.   Great playing Jared!
    At 3 singles was junior Leor Handelsman. Leor got off to a great start with great serves and consistency to win 8-1.
    At 1 doubles was Senior Captain Eli Goldstein and in his career match at Gann Freshman Lev Menzin. It was a great match with great points. Eli was immense at the net and serving and Lev was good at the baseline and serving. That combo got them the lead at 4-1 and 6-3. Playing against 2 good doubles players it was back and forth points with Eli and Lev winning 8-4. Great playing guys!!
    At 2 doubles was sophomores Ben Wilder and Simon Sherbet. Ben had his net and baseline going well and Simon had his serves and consistency to win 8-4 for the 4-1 team win. Great playing Ben and Simon!
     
    Sophomore Tomy Allerhand and Freshman Noah Gornstein got a friendly match to finish the day.

    Gann beats Dexter 5-2
     
    In a match that is non-league and mostly an exhibition the Boys Tennis Team played extremely well winning 5-2.
     
    In the end we played 4 singles matches and 3 doubles matches however some of the singles players from Dexter were playing doubles too.
    At 1 singles Eric Kruglak who played a good player and it was tied at 4-4 but Eric pulled away with great shots, serving and net play to win the first set 6-4. Second set Eric was in command to win 6-2. Great win Eric!
    At 3 singles was Leor Handelsman who cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win with great serving and baseline play.
    At 4 singles was Gann’s number 1 doubles player Eli Goldstein playing a former Gann student. Eli had great points winning 6-2, 6-1. Eli’s net game and serving helped him win the match.
     
    At 2 singles was Ezra Goff who had the longest game of the day. When Ezra’s first set ended the others singles matches were done or almost done. Ezra played a good player beating him 7-6 in the first set but losing the second set 4-6. Super consistency by both players made for long points. They played a 3rd set tiebreaker to 10 points with Ezra losing a close match.
     
    At 2 doubles were Freshman Eli Bennett and Lev Menzin winning 6-4 with great net play and baseline play for the win.
    At 3 doubles were Freshman Noah Gornstein and Ari Lerner winning their first match of the year.
    Finally 1 doubles started but with Leor Handelsman playing for Dexter and Noah Lion and Ben Wilder playing for Gann. Dexter and Leor won 6-4 with great points all around.

    Boys Gann Tennis team beats BTA 5-0
     
    In our home league opener the boys beat BTA impressively 5-0.
    At 1 singles was Senior Captain Eric Kruglak taking care of business winning 8-0. Eric had his serve, forehand and net game all going at a high level to win the match. Great playing Eric !!!
    At 2 singles was Senior Captain Jared Lipsey.   Jared’s serve, baseline and net game were all doing well to win 8-1.
    At 3 Singles was Junior Leor Handelsman playing by far the most consistent player of BTA. Leor made some great serves, baseline game and consistency to win 8-2.
    All 3 singles matches ended with in 2 minutes of each other for Gann to go up 3-0 in the team match.
    At 1 doubles were Senior Captain Eli Goldstein and Sophomore Ben Wilder. They started off slowly losing the first game but won the next 8, to win 8-1. Ben’s baseline game and Eli’s net game gave BTA fits all match. Great playing Eli and Ben!!
    At 2 doubles were Junior Noah Lion and Junior Josiah Riskin playing at a high level. Both Noah and Josiah had great serves all match. Josiah at the baseline and Noah at the net lead to a lot of winning points for an 8-0 win. Great win Noah and Josiah!
     
    Sophomores Simon Sherbet and Micah Margolis got to play a friendly match and won 8-0 in impressive fashion.

    Gann Tennis wins 4-1 over Beaver Academy
     
    In our first match of the year and we got off to a great start winning 4-1 on a very windy day.
     
    At 1 singles was Captain Senior Jared Lipsey playing a good Player from Beaver. Jared played a smart match but was down 0-1 and then he got into a great rhythm going on to win 8-1. Fantastic playing Jared!!
     
    At 2 Singles was junior Ezra Goff playing extremely consistent opponent. Ezra was also good with baseline play and consistency.   Ezra started out on top going up 5-4. Then his opponent morphed into Ezra’s game of great consistency going ahead 5-6 and winning 6-8. It was a great match to watch.
     
    At 3 Singles was Junior Noah Lion who played an opponent who was consistent. Noah though played better going up 4-0 and cruised to an 8-0 win. Great playing Noah!!
     
     
     
    At 1 doubles was Junior Leor Handelsman and junior Jacob Finkielsztein playing a good team. Jacob in his first Gann match of the year played fantastic doubles were very consistent with Leor serving and playing the net area to up 4-0 and win 8-0. Great Playing Leor and Jacob!!
     
    Finishing the match at 2 doubles was sophomores Ben Wilder and Tomy Allerhand. Ben and Tomy lost a game at the beginning but went on to win 8-1 with great net play and serving.   Great playing by Ben and Tomy!
     
    We had a Friendly match with Beaver with Freshman Lev Menzin and Eli Bennett getting some good action against Beavers #1 doubles team. Lev and Eli played great and were winning 4-1 to show the incredible depth this team has for 2019.
