Heidi Tarr

Heidi Tarr, aka “The Queen Nerdling,” joined Gann Academy after teaching at the Emery/Weiner Jewish day school in Houston,Texas and Northbridge High School in Whitinsville, MA. She teaches Advanced Biology and Advanced Biotechnology and serves as a freshman advisor welcoming new students to Gann and providing them with a fun, safe, welcoming atmosphere. Throughout her teaching career Heidi has taught AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, Advanced Research and Seminar, Advanced Biotechnology, and Independent Studies in Genetics. Always passionate about student life, the Queen Nerdling has been the advisor for Student Council and National Honors Society, coached the Envirothon team, was the Director of Academic UIL, taught yoga and meditation to student athletes after school, and oversaw an after school peer tutoring program. Heidi earned her undergraduate degree in Marine Biology from Texas A&M University and then went on to earn her master’s degree in Secondary Life Science Education. When Heidi isn’t busy with her Nerdlings (what she calls her AMAZING students), she enjoys hiking with her cat, golfing, skiing, yoga, kayaking and going on adventures with her husband.
