EXPLORE GANN

BASEBALL FIELD

In the spring, the field in front of campus is busy hosting varsity and JV baseball practices or games. The sidelines are filled with Gann fans cheering on their team!

GO GANN!

Our main gym, the size of two basketball courts, and our auxiliary gym allow students and multiple teams to practice at the same time, supporting our community environment. During competitive games, the stands are packed to the brim, full of eager spectators cheering on their favorite team. You might even get to meet our legendary mascot, the Red Heifer.

BLACK BOX THEATRE

The Bernice Krupp Black Box Theatre is home to our thriving theatre department!  Students are encouraged to be actors, directors, designers, technicians, playwrights—whatever role best fits their passions.

Students learn through peer-to-peer collaboration and training with professional theatre artists. Last year, during the production of “Marian: Or the True Tale of Robin Hood,” the department brought in a professional stunt choreographer to help students learn fight and weapon sequences.

With every show, the theatre becomes completely transformed with beautiful set design, creating a unique experience for audiences. With our state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, these shows are incredible; it’s no wonder the performances almost always sell out!

SCIENCE LABS

We believe that science is not just a subject to be studied, but a way of thinking and approaching the world. Our science program is designed to help you develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deep appreciation for the wonders of the natural world.

Our science program will empower you to explore and make sense of the world around us through a scientific lens. Through a combination of interdisciplinary challenges and core foundational studies in physics, chemistry, and biology, students embark on a journey of discovery and exploration.

We incorporate hands-on challenges that require students to draw upon the principles of science, math, and design and fabrication. These interdisciplinary projects help you develop a deep understanding of how different fields of study are interconnected and can be used to solve complex problems.

As you progress through our science sequence, you have access to dedicated science labs equipped with all the necessary materials and safety equipment for conducting experiments and other experiential learning activities. Whether you’re studying the parts of a cell or safely creating chemical reactions, our labs provide a safe and supportive environment for you to explore and learn.

THE GANN FARM

Growing food is a sacred part of Jewish culture. On the Gann Farm, we focus on the cultivation of food, and what it means to follow a crop from seed to bloom. Students learn hands-on techniques about sustainable farming, encouraging them to think critically about the food they enjoy and where it comes from.

With over 30 different types of crops growing on the Gann Farm, we are able to make a beautiful bounty every harvest season. Farm-fresh food has such a uniquely wonderful taste, and we are proud to offer it to our students. These crops are often used by the dining team as they craft delicious lunches for the school.

In addition to plants, Gann Academy is the proud parent to chickens! Students have the opportunity to work hands on with the chickens, learning about proper animal care. Don’t worry, they’re friendly!

SOFTBALL

In the spring, the softball field in back of campus is filled with varsity and JV softball practices or games!

SOCCER AND LACROSSE TURF FIELD

During the fall, you can find our boys and girls soccer teams playing their hearts out on game days. In the spring, our boys and girls lacrosse teams take over, ready to take on their new seasons with excitement and passion!

SHALOM & WELCOME

Imagine yourself walking into our high school’s lobby and being greeted by the sight of students buzzing around, sharing stories, and working together on projects. Our lobby is not just a place to pass through, it’s a vibrant hub of activity where our students come together to learn, grow, and build lasting friendships.

Here at Gann, we value the importance of collaboration and community. Our students are encouraged to work together, share their ideas and support one another. The lobby is just one of many spaces where this culture thrives.

You can look forward to being a part of this vibrant and supportive community. Whether you’re grabbing a bite to eat during lunch or collaborating on a group project after class, the lobby is always filled with energy and excitement.

FOOD SERVICES

Nothing brings people together quite like a good meal, and our Dining Hall reflects it. During lunch, this becomes a hotspot for student clubs to have meetings, for friends to talk about their days, and for all students to enjoy food.

Our dining team creates three delicious hot options for lunch every day with a fresh salad bar always available. From a ramen bar to poke bowls, the food is incredible! The Food Services team values the use of fresh ingredients, often utilizing the crops grown on the Gann farm.

We keep an entirely kosher, dairy-only kitchen at Gann and our menu includes options like Pizza and Pasta bars, Impossible Burgers, Ramen bowls, a fresh salad bar, and Poke bowls!

BEIT MIDRASH

Our Beit Midrash is a gathering space for the whole school, and one of our largest communal spaces. This room fills many purposes at Gann and was designed to reflect our pluralistic values. As a religious space, the Beit Midrash houses many prayer books and a few of the Torahs we keep on campus. Some of our Zman Kodesh, or prayer groups, meet here during the week to build community while keeping up with the sacred Jewish tradition of morning rituals.

The Beit Midrash also has three classrooms built into its sides, reflecting the secular aspects of our school and community. Here, students study everything from Spanish to world history. To further continue the pursuit of knowledge, our library has a balcony that overlooks this space. Students are encouraged to think about their religious studies in the context of secular studies, and vice versa. The Beit Midrash is designed to ensure every student, regardless of background, feels welcome and seen at Gann Academy.

LIBRARY

Our campus boasts a bustling library that is the heart of our school. We believe that learning should be comfortable and engaging, which is why our library is designed with you in mind.

Our library is stocked with an impressive collection of books, covering all genres and topics. Whether you’re looking for something to read for class or just for fun, you’ll find it here.

We understand that sometimes you need a quieter space to study or collaborate, which is why we have private rooms available for students or teachers to reserve. These spaces are perfect for group work or individual study sessions.

Outside of the library, in our Commons, we have seating areas that provide space for students to socialize in a louder setting. We also have a projector and screen available for larger gatherings. During the World Cup, our students enjoyed watching Team USA’s games on the big screen, and we close most of our grade-level Shabbatonim with a movie in this space.

We believe that learning happens not only in the classroom but also in the spaces in between. Our library is just one example of how we create a supportive and engaging environment for our students.

ART PROGRAMS

The arts are a vital part of our culture and community.

Through our arts program, provide a variety of resources and opportunities for you to explore your creative interests. Our studios are equipped with all the materials and tools you will need on your creative journey, including a dedicated media arts room, visual arts studio, pottery space, Blackbox theater, a dance studio, and a darkroom for developing photography. We also feature many offerings, such as performances and exhibits, throughout the year to showcase your many talents.

Whether you’re an aspiring musician, dancer, actor, or visual artist, you’ll find a supportive and nurturing community at Gann Academy. Our arts program is designed to help you discover and develop your passions, while building essential skills and fostering a deeper appreciation for the arts.

TENNIS COURTS

During the spring, the tennis courts are home to the tennis teams and recreational classes including pickle ball. Freshly painted, with both tennis and pickle ball lines, these courts stand proudly at the entrance of our parking lot. We are proud that both our Girls and Boys Tennis Teams have won championships in their respective leagues!

ULTIMATE FRISBEE

During the fall, you can find cross country warming up, stretching their legs before a big run. It also marks as the finish line for cross country competitions that Gann is lucky enough to host. In the spring, our ultimate frisbee team takes over, ready to get back outside after the winter season of indoor athletics.
