Maya Wainhaus joined Gann Academy in 2017 after being a Teaching Artist and Program Manager at Spark Media Project in Poughkeepsie, NY. She teaches Media Arts, including Graphic Design, Filmmaking, Animation, Digital Photography, and Darkroom Photography, and actively participates as a student advisor, Z’man Kodesh leader, and mentor for new faculty. In 2019 she travelled to Japan as the recipient of the Carol Ruth Jacobs Traveling Fellowship. Maya earned her undergraduate degree in English from Barnard College and her masters in Social Justice Education from SUNY New Paltz. Before pursing a career in education, Maya produced live cultural events and performances at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.
