Pathways to Gann

At Gann Academy we welcome students from all Jewish backgrounds. Whether you have always been in Jewish Day School or have never stepped foot in one, you belong here. Approximately half of our students come from independent and public schools, with many experiencing formal Jewish education for the first time.

Public School

Many families from public school explore Gann because they want something more personal, more relational with Jewish values, and more responsive to who their child is and how they learn best.

Independent School

Families applying to Gann from independent schools want a high school that continues the academic strength, creativity and close relationships they are familiar with at their current school, while also adding a meaningful Jewish dimension.

Jewish Day School

Alumni Spotlight

Avi Cooper - Alum '03

Dr. Avraham Cooper ’03 knows an extraordinary amount about how the human body works. He’s also passionate about figuring out how to explain it to the rest of us.

A practicing pulmonary and critical care physician at The Ohio State University, Dr. Cooper also trains future specialists, and his writing has appeared in The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and CHEST. Most recently, he explored the body’s hidden pathways in a feature for The New York Times Magazine. But medicine tells only part of his story.
